Migrating from another proxy

Moving from Nikki, XKeen, XRAYUI and other proxies.

Two proxies can not intercept the same traffic: stop the old one and remove it from autostart before installing Exodus.

A profile moves as it is when it is a subscription or a Mihomo (Clash Meta) config: upload it on the profiles page. On Keenetic and Asus Exodus sets its ports, the DNS listener, the API and the dashboard over the profile, TUN of the profile is turned off. An Xray config does not fit — Exodus needs a subscription or a config for Mihomo.

Exodus is a fork of Nikki and takes its settings as they are, the migration is the install:

  1. Run the installer. It removes nikki, luci-app-nikki, luci-i18n-nikki-* and the feed of Nikki, then installs Exodus in their place.
  2. The settings in /etc/config/nikki, the mixin file, profiles and subscriptions in /etc/nikki are kept, the service starts with them. It is still /etc/init.d/nikki.
  3. The pages move from Services → Nikki to Services → Exodus. Check the subscription and the devices on App Config: HWID headers are sent by default, they are turned off on Profile for a subscription that does not need them.

Going back: remove the packages (opkg remove luci-app-exodus exodus or apk del luci-app-exodus exodus) and install Nikki by its instructions, the settings stay. uninstall.sh removes the settings too.

  1. Stop XKeen and turn off its autostart, or remove it completely. While XKeen is running, the installer of Exodus stops with an error.

    xkeen -stop
    xkeen -auto off
    # or: xkeen -remove
  2. Install Exodus.

  3. Profiles: add the subscription — the same link as in proxy-providers of XKeen. Or take the whole config of XKeen as a profile and choose File: xkeen.yaml on Status:

    cp /opt/etc/mihomo/config.yaml /opt/etc/exodus/profiles/xkeen.yaml
  4. Status → Devices: XKeen proxies the devices of the XKeen access policy, Exodus chooses them here. To proxy only them, choose the mode Only selected and these devices or their segment. The policy can be removed in the router afterwards.

  5. Settings: the DSCP marks 61, 62 and 63 are the same as in XKeen. The ports of port_proxying.lst and port_exclude.lst and the networks of ip_exclude.lst from /opt/etc/xkeen go to Ports and exclusions.

Going back: stop the service and turn off Autostart on Status or uninstall Exodus, then xkeen -auto on and xkeen -start.

  1. Stop the other proxy (XRAYUI, Clash or sing-box) and turn off its autostart, or remove it by its instructions.
  2. Install Exodus.
  3. Profiles: add the subscription of your provider or upload a Mihomo config.
  4. Status → Devices: choose the devices that go through the proxy, then Save & Apply.
